Popcorn ceiling ideas?
I’m about to have a baby any day now and don’t want to mess with trying to scape it off and everything. It’s an old house and there would probably be a lot of repair work needed.
I want to paint the ceilings throughout the house silver (shiny not flat grey) except the living room where there is an orange, yellow and blue sunset mural, but think it will look funky with the bumps on ceiling. Could I mix it with another color or glaze over it? The kitchen is bright orange and the rest of the house is painted either medium/dark grey or blue and I have silver accents throughout house. All the trimwork is dark walnut wood stain.
the popcorn has a VERY thick coat of white paint over it…i had a contractor here who said because of the thick paint if i tried to scrape it, there would be a lot of holes/etc. to repair

If you round out the corner edge of your scraper you will reduce scarring the ceiling, but a skim coat of dry wall mud will fix it well. Use a large damp sponge to smooth the mud so you don’t have dust around for the baby. If the paint is on heavy, then it should peal off easy, just get it started and you have it.
