Question about dog in heat?
I have an olde english bulldog that’s about 13 months old. I got her when she was 11 months old and she was not spayed.
Recently, my fiances dog came over who is neutered. She tried to mount him, he tried to mount her. We stopped it when we saw it, however we recently saw a few spots of what appeared to be blood on my bed.
Thinking she was in heat, I went out to get dog diapers and scheduled an appt. to get her spayed in about 4 weeks. After a few days of diapers, there was nothing in the diaper and no spots of blood anywhere in the house.
My gut tells me the blood came from a dog breaking a nail or getting nipped, but am concerned that if she was in heat, it only lasted a few days. She had been left unsupervised outside prior to noticing this but never for more then 10 minutes. Plus, when she’s done with her business she just sits on the steps and there have been no other dogs snooping around the yard.
Do I have any reason to be concerned?
If the other dog was neutered, unless there was a mistake in his surgery, she can’t get pregnant from him. Even if she was in heat, the neutered male can try as he might, but with no balls, no babies.
Dogs mount each other not just sexually…why would a female dog get anything from mounting a male?…it’s a dominating behavior. Dogs posture their dominance by “humping” each other.
