Chandeliers for Every Room
Chandeliers can be one of the most stunning lighting fixtures in your home. Making sure the chandelier fits one’s room of choice is a top priority. Firstly, the size of the room will narrow down your choices. One needs to take into consideration the height of your ceiling because higher ceilings require a larger fixture. The furnishings in the room also dictate the size of the chandelier because chandeliers need to complement, not over power. So let’s take a look at a few rooms and find an example chandelier that will work perfectly.
The Foyer
To find the diameter for the chandelier, add the dimensions (in feet) of the foyer to find the diameter (in inches). Let’s say the foyer is 14′ by 18′. The chandelier would then need to be right around 32″ in diameter. Once one finds a chandelier that matches the home’s style, be sure that it hangs no lower than 7′ from the floor. If there is a window in the foyer, the chandelier should be centered in the window for optimal viewing from outside.
The Dining Room
Sizing a chandelier for the dining room table is simple. Assuming the dining room table “fits” the space correctly, the chandelier’s diameter should be 12″ less than the smallest side of your table. If the chandelier is to be the focal point of the dining room, just apply the foyer sizing rule.
The Kitchen
