Napili or Kihei condo?
Going to Maui in March and have been looking at VRBO and Redweek for condos. Want oceanfront, 2bdrm/2bath, and 2nd bed cannot be sleeper sofa. Friends have recommended Napili Kai, however, I am seeing quite a few for Kahana Sands and Kihei area. Need help on best area to stay. Will be going to Hana one day, want a good snorkel beach near condo and want to see ocean from our lanai. Is Mauna Lea, Maui Hill on beach? Is Napili Point and Napili Bay as nice a beach as Napili Kai? Thanks for any help.
I personally prefer Kihei. Napili and Lahaina are so far away from everything that I always felt like I was stuck there. If you want to leave that area to go anywhere else on the island expect to tack on a good 1/2 hours worth of driving. The beaches are beautiful though.
Kihei is more central to everything and has some great beaches. Ulua is very close and is an excellent snorkeling beach.
Make sure you save a day to spend at Makena beach. It is truly spectacular!
I also recommend picking up the ‘Road to Hana’ cd for your drive. Ive been there probably a dozen times and the cd showed me a bunch of stuff Id never seen before.
As far as condos there are tons of them in Kihei and I find it quite a bit cheaper there than on the Lahaina side of the island. We always stay at the Kihei Kai Nani. Its right across the road from the beach and very reasonably priced. No view of the beach though. We found our condo on greatrentals.com.
