What is the best way to remove the topcoat from venetian plaster?
I spent all day yesterday applying three layers of venetian plaster from Lowe’s and then burnishing it to perfection. Since it was in the bathroom, I finished it with a thin layer of topcoat from the same manufacturer. The topcoat changed the color dramatically, and my light mediterranean blue is now a glossy dark blue green! It is awful and doesn’t match any of the tile or accessories I had purchased. Is it possible to remove the topcoat, and if so how? Or can I just apply more of the original plaster over the topcoat to get the color I’m after?
EWWW! I know your pain, same thing happened to me! Ok, the only thing to fix this is to put another coat over it, be careful though, make it a VERY thin coat otherwise it won’t dry. I tried everything, even sanding it down and that was all that worked. Secondly, I did another room in the stuff from Home Depot by Behr and it was 500x better. Don’t use that Lowes junk again. Valspar bites.
