Halogen Light Bulbs Offer Benefits Over Standard Incandescent Bulbs
In the present world of lighting, there is a constant increase in technology in order to allow for better luminosity with less power consumption. Halogen bulbs are no different in this aspect. Halogen bulbs are a type of bulb with many different uses, sizes and colors. While they are still a type of incandescent bulb, halogen lighting is much more efficient and is also known to be brighter than standard incandescent bulbs. There are also several different sizes of bulbs that can be used for a specialized purpose. These bulbs are known as “PAR” bulbs.
PAR stands for “parabolic aluminized reflector”. These lamps can use halogen bulbs along with a reflector piece in order to produce a highly concentrated light that can be used for many different purposes. However, there are different sizes of these bulbs that are distinguished by their names. Some of the most common ones supplied by sites such as USALight.com are par 16, par 30, par 36, and par 38. The number is used to show how many eighths of an inch wide the bulb is. Therefore, in order to determine how many inches across the light bulb is, the par number is divided by 8. This means that the par 16 bulb is 2 inches across, the par 30 is 3.75 inches across, the par 36 is 4.5 inches across, and the par 38 is 4.75 inches across. The different diameters may be beneficial to those who need small variances in size for a bulb.
USALight carries not only the par sizes of halogen lighting mentioned above, but several others as well. They not only come in different par sizes, but also different wattages and voltages. Most of the bulbs can either be supplied in either 120V or 130V, but they can vary widely in their wattage. For example, some of the smaller par 16 bulbs can have between 60 and 75 watts whereas larger bulbs such as par 38 may only have 45 watts. However, it has been shown that halogen bulbs are more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs with 10-30 lumens per watt. Furthermore, they can also last twice as long as standard Incandescent Light bulbs. Another benefit of halogen bulbs is the fact that they have a higher color temperature in the light that they put out. This makes them brighter and more vibrant than standard incandescent bulbs.
Halogen lights can serve a variety of purposes, and the varying sizes that they come in can be a benefit to nearly anyone. This means that there are halogen lights for small lamps as well as for large flood lights. Furthermore, sites such as USALight offer halogen lights from various well known brands at different sizes and reasonable prices. These lights can ultimately prove to be not only brighter, but longer lasting than standard bulbs. This may be reason enough for some homeowners to make the switch from standard incandescent bulbs to halogen light bulbs.
