What’s New About Exit Signs and Why You Should Care!
Chances are that unless you are a building contractor or work in the safety industry, you’ve spent precious little time ruminating over the importance of your building’s exit signs. However I’m going to run down for you several reasons why you need to give this some thought, and how this can lead to increased profitability and safety for your company and employees.
Most exit signs and egress indicators over the last fifty years or so have been hard-wired into your building. Or perhaps, if they were really progressive, they relied on batteries to power them and light your way in the event of an emergency. This was dependent, of course, on whether or not the batteries had a charge when the event occurred, and on whether or not the event in question entirely knocked out your building’s power source.
Over the last few years, a new kind of technology has emerged that is not only safer, but is extremely eco-friendly and cost saving. It’s the practice of using photoluminescent exit signs as a replacement for the old school types of exit sign as a means of facilitating egress from your buildings in the event of an emergency.
