Brooklands Hotel Surrey Has So Much To Offer The Area
A new extensive meeting, private dining and event space, with the original Brooklands race track running through it, will launch in Surrey on the 1st of March 2010 as part of the exclusive new luxury 4* deluxe Brooklands Hotel & Spa development. A 120-bedroom design sensation, with complimentary wi-fi throughout, lashings of natural light due to floor to ceiling windows in all meeting and event rooms, larger than average bedrooms and huge super suites with views over the track that come with their own desk area, and some with their own meeting space too. Guests and visitors will also have the added bonus of the team building potential that being a 5 second walk away from the Mercedes Benz World experience has to offer, as well as the benefits of its close vicinity to other attractions in the local area such as Wisley, Sandowne Race Track, Thorpe Park, Chessington and Kew Gardens.
Of all the Surrey Hotels it is perfectly located just 5 minutes from the M25, 30minutes from central London, 17 miles from Heathrow and 33 miles from Gatwick, it is also perfectly situated for international as well as national clientele. With its unparalleled and unique location and reasonably priced, all inclusive day delegate and 24HR Rate structures (DDR are expected to start at around £50pp), an exclusive offering at accessible prices is the order of the day at the new Brooklands Hotel.
Featuring one event suite with a theatre style capacity of 175 and seven other meeting suites (with motoring related names) suitable for a variety of combinations, the new Brooklands Hotel offers guests the ultimate in ‘corporate chic’. There are few Weybridge Hotels with the personality and design of a boutique hotel, but with the service and facilities of a top class conference hotel, its dedicated entrance, houses an “avenue” of conical shaped, floor standing lamps which deliver a sense of arrival within an uncluttered spacious, yet stylish space. Walking in to the foyer, guests will be met with first by a stylish bar area which is equipped to cater for the most demanding and exclusive of events. The secure aspect of this facility is also carefully and cleverly disguised with a pull down screen featuring a collage of black and white photography illustrating stunning, close up shots of art deco architecture.
However, this is certainly not an instance when style supersedes substance… All inclusive rates and state of the art in-room systems come as standard. The Brooklands Hotel Surrey will pride itself on rates which don’t include any hidden costs or supplements, as well as packages (rooms and meeting space) that include lots of added value that ultimately saves the individual, company or group money. Food and beverage… The executive chef brings with him experience from some of the top restaurants and hotels in London. Aspirational in terms of offering, yet accessible when it comes to pricing, whether providing light and refreshing brain-food for hard working teams attending a meeting or something with real ‘wow factor’ for a private celebration, wedding or dinner, the Brooklands Hotel food and beverage offering is guaranteed to exceed all expectations. Modern British with a strong Italian influence, it will be created by one of the top English/Italian chefs in the UK at the moment – critically acclaimed head chef Nick Bell. Nick’s CV and past experience speaks for itself. As well as spending time as head chef at Daphne’s in Barbados – the sister restaurant to the famous Daphne’s of Chelsea, London – Nick has cooked with London’s most fêted Italian chef, Giorgio Locatelli, at both the Michelin-starred Zafferano and Cecconi’s in Mayfair – where he was head chef. More recently he worked as a chef at the critically acclaimed hot-spot of the moment, Bocca di Lupo in Soho.
Standard bedrooms… Home to some of the largest rooms of any UK hotel; the smallest room is still 28 sq metres and many have their own private outside space with panoramic views of the Mercedes Benz track. Each one benefits from a huge amount of natural light, with floor to ceiling windows in all. Perfect for business and leisure travellers alike, interconnecting rooms are also available to book, as well as a number of rooms with sofa beds, giving maximum flexibility whatever the requirements.
Super Suites… Six super-sized one-bedroom suites typifying the curvaceous nature of the building and exploiting the incredible panorama and views are located at each end of the building on three floors. The super suite sharing the spa floor not only delivers exceptional space and luxurious furnishings but also boasts; a cloakroom accessed from the impressive entrance lobby, original artwork and a bespoke round daybed within the lounge that swivels to best appreciate every aspect of the views; a private terrace that generously wraps around the full extent of the suites elevation, a state of the art bathroom with separate WC, shower room and a huge free standing bath.
Spa… Destination spa with wet and dry treatment rooms, steam room, sauna, outdoor hot tubs, meditation room with water beds, exercise and relaxation areas.
Design… From the demarcation in the foyer of the original race track’s “Solomon Straight” which rolls out before you in riven quartz and honed granite, to the glittering “honeycomb” 1930’s inspired pendants behind reception, it is clear that the interior design observes and is influenced by detail typical of the period and by those who were prolific and influential of style at the time. The spirit and history so relevant to the site has been carefully woven into the developing story of the new Brooklands Hotel. For example Eileen Gray, Van de Rohe, & Le Corbusier each has established and identifiable details so frequently used in their iconic pieces. The button detail apparent to the Barcelona chair has been adapted and exaggerated to create impressive leather wall panels to the back of the reception desk, this over sizing of detail is also an influence in the design of the display unit to the rear of reception taking inspiration from the “rocket” cabinet so recognisable of the art deco period.
Art… Bespoke art, much of which is inspired by influences of an earlier era, is visible in all key areas of the hotel. Even the centre piece wood sculpture which is suspended high above in the atrium of the hotel lobby, and which has been created exclusively for the hotel by up-and-coming designer Charlie Whinney (V&A, Harvey Nichols and the Dorchester are some of his most recent high-profile clients) has been heavily been influenced by the motor-racing setting. A sculptural and interpretive 3D map of the old Brooklands Race Track, as it appeared in the 1950’s, it depicts the flowing lines and competition of motor racing in a new way – depicting the route of the cars as several strands racing each other, twisting and flowing as they jostle for position on the track.
