Young’s Double slit diffraction experiment..
QUESTION:
Explain why one light source has to be split into two separate sources in order to produce the diffraction pattern instead of simply two light bulbs being used.
when you split the single light source into two sources they still have the same wave front and therefore produce the fringe patterns. two different light sources would not have the same wave front and would not produce a diffraction pattern (no fringes).
